Essential Accessories for the LiveWire S2 Del Mar: What Every Rider Should Have

As riding season approaches, LiveWire S2 Del Mar owners are gearing up for their next adventure. Whether you’re commuting, carving through mountain roads, or tackling light off-road trails, having the right accessories can make all the difference. After putting my Del Mar through its paces since launch, I’ve identified a set of must-have accessories that enhance convenience, comfort, and overall ride experience.

1. 12V Accessory Cable – Power for Heated Gear & More ($45)

One of the most useful modifications I’ve made is installing a 12V accessory cable. This simple addition allows you to power heated gear, GPS devices, and other accessories directly from the bike. The Del Mar has a P&A (Parts & Accessories) port under the seat, which provides power. You can either create a DIY cable or purchase a pre-made one that’s plug-and-play. I’ve routed mine under the tank plastics for a clean look with easy access when needed.

This cable takes 12v power from the Parts & Accessory relay and supplies up to 10amps of power for accessories.

The P&A relay is near the 12v battery, you can see the relay ‘holder’ just below my right palm in this photo.

2. Bags & Storage Solutions for Every Ride

Storage space is always at a premium on motorcycles, and for quick access to essentials, I rely on two key bags:

Chrome Industries Cadet Sling Bag – A rugged, water-resistant option that keeps items secure while riding. It’s lightweight and durable, making it perfect for daily use.

LiveWire Handlebar Bag – Specifically designed for the Del Mar, this small but practical bag offers quick access to small items like keys, a wallet, or charging cables.

After more than a year of riding through varying weather conditions, both bags have held up exceptionally well.

LiveWire collaborated with Chrome Industries, an urban adventure apparel company, to create a LiveWire branded sling bag and handlebar bag.

Sporting LiveWire’s colorful signature graphics helps me find the right gear to get the shot.

3. Tesla Charging Adapter – Expanding Your Charging Network

A TeslaTap MINI adapter is a must-have for Del Mar riders. While the bike doesn’t support Supercharging, it can use Tesla Destination Chargers, opening access to more than 6,400 charging locations nationwide. Not all Tesla chargers are accessible to non-Tesla vehicles, so checking PlugShare before heading to a charging station is essential. I’ve carried my adapter for over five years, and it has proven invaluable on road trips.

The OG Tesla adapter - the Tesla Tap Mini (60amp). This adapter lets you tap into Tesla destination chargers (240v).

These chargers can be set to ‘charge any’ vehicle, or just Tesla cars - be sure to check plugshare for other EV reviews at locations to make sure you can use it.

4. Quadlock Wireless Charger – Hassle-Free Phone Mounting

For navigation and connectivity on the go, I use the Quadlock mount with a wireless charging head. This system allows for effortless one-handed mounting while keeping your phone charged. It’s waterproof and vibration-resistant, which is crucial for motorcycle use. After logging over 70,000 miles with this setup, I can confidently say it’s one of the most reliable accessories for any rider who relies on their phone for maps and communication.

5. Garmin Zumo XT – A GPS Built for Riders

While smartphones work well for navigation, they have limitations—especially in remote areas or during extreme weather. That’s where the Garmin Zumo XT shines.

This dedicated motorcycle GPS features:

• A glove-friendly touchscreen

Offline maps with turn-by-turn navigation

Wireless route transfer from your phone or computer

• A rugged, weatherproof design

For long-distance or adventure riding, this is an invaluable tool when coupled with a 12v accessory cable.

The whole device can be controlled with any glove.

No cell towers to tell me where to go here.

6. Bar Risers – Improved Comfort for Taller Riders

At 6’1”, I found the stock handlebar height of the Del Mar a bit low, especially when standing on the pegs. Fortunately, the bike uses the same bar clamp size as the BMW R1200GS, meaning aftermarket bar risers are widely available. I installed a 1 1/4 inch riser (30mm), which made a significant difference in comfort without requiring a longer brake cable.

7. Ampure Go EVSE *(formerly Webasto) – A Durable, Portable Charger ($390 USD)

The Ampure Go is one of the best portable Level 1/Level 2 chargers available. It’s waterproof, impact-resistant, crush proof and built to handle tough conditions. While there are cheaper options on the market, I’ve found that Webasto’s reliability and durability are well worth the investment. You can buy one here: https://amzn.to/4mfjIFh

8. Dunlop K180 Tires – Better Grip for Mixed Terrain

The Del Mar comes with street-oriented tires, but for those venturing onto gravel or dirt roads, the Dunlop K180 is a great upgrade. These flat-track-inspired tires provide better traction on loose surfaces while remaining DOT-approved for street use. The trade-off? Faster wear. Expect to replace the rear tire around 3,000 miles, depending on riding conditions.

The Dunlop K180 offers a more spread out tread pattern, giving more grip in low traction situations.

A softer compound provides better grip off-road at the expense of more wear on pavement.

9. LiveWire Accessories – What’s Worth It?

LiveWire offers a range of accessories, but not all of them are equally beneficial. Here’s a breakdown of what I recommend:

Highly Recommended

Sport Seat – A massive improvement in comfort over the stock seat. Better cushions and a higher passenger seat means extended riding comfort and a planted stop for your butt on those exhilarating accelerations - which happen quite often on the S2.

S2 Side Carriers & S2 Street Rack – Made by SW-Motech, these add practical storage for extended rides. Whether you choose the Legend Side Bags or the Urban ABS Side cases - you won’t be disappointed with either of these. The S2 street rack really has the better value here, in that your options for top case storage are wide thanks to the universal adapter plate you can order from LiveWire or SW-Motech.

Situationally Useful

Speed Screen – It looks great but doesn’t provide significant wind protection.

Euro Tail Kit – Adds a secondary brake light but doesn’t include turn signals. A great aesthetic upgrade, but not a full fender eliminator.

Final Thoughts

These accessories have made my time with the LiveWire S2 Del Mar more enjoyable and practical, whether for daily commuting or long-distance riding. Investing in quality gear ensures a smoother, more reliable experience on the road.Have questions or recommendations?
